Alexandra K. Papadopoulou

Dr Alexandra K. Papadopoulou is currently a Senior Research and Academic staff in the Division of Orthodontics of the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She served for seven years as a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Orthodontics of the University of Sydney, Australia. Dr Papadopoulou is a Specialist Oral Surgeon and Specialist Orthodontist and holds a PhD. She received her qualifications from the School of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She also completed a 2-year Research Fellowship in the Department of Histology and Embryology in the School of Medicine of the same University. She has supervised several DClinDent (Orthodontics) and Higher Research Degree projects and has published numerous research papers in high impact, peer-reviewed journals several of which have received awards as a significant contribution to the specialty’s research. Her main research interests focus on the efficacy of dentofacial orthopaedic treatment, skeletal anchorage devices, the biology of orthodontic tooth movement and adjunctive interventions in accelerating orthodontics, effects of orthodontic treatment to the upper airway and obstructive sleep apnoea.
