Dr. Goumenos graduated from the School of Pharmacy (University of Athens, Greece) in 1982 and the School of Dentistry in 1988. He graduated from the Dpt. of Periodontology of Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine, Boston, where he obtained his Certificate in Periodontology in 1990 and his Master of Science Degree in 1991 from the Graduate School of the same University. He received a Doctorate Degree in 1998 from the Dpt. of Periodontology, of the University of Athens, Greece.

Dr. Goumenos was announced Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 1996.

He was appointed Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the Dpt. of Periodontology, Tufts University, Boston, and since 1991 he has been a clinical instructor at the Dpt. of Periodontology of the University of Athens, Greece.

He has published several articles to date and he is lecturing both nationwide and internationally; he is a faculty member of gIDE and a member of AAP, EFP, AAO and EAO.

His main interest is in the biology of oral tissues and their management in periodontal and implant reconstructive plastic surgery.

Dr. George Goumenos has been in private practice since 1992, devoted exclusively to Periodontics and Dental implants in Athens, Greece.

Dr. George Kotsakis received his DDS from the University of Athens and after graduation he practiced in Athens, Greece for several years prior to coming to the US. He then completed his residency in Periodontics and MS in Science at the University of Minnesota when he first got involved in Peri-implantitis research. Following his training, he became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. In 2018, he moved to UTHealth at San Antonio where he is currently an Associate Professor of Periodontics, UTHSCA, San Antonio, TX and directs the Clinical & Translational Periodontal Research Lab. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and also serves as a Graduate Faculty in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, UTHealth San Antonio and as n Affiliate Associate Professor in Global Health at the School of Public Health, University of Washington. He is a clinical researcher focusing on bone regeneration procedures in Implant surgery and Peri-implantitis Therapy. In the Clinical Periodontal Research Lab he conducts funded research on identifying the biological mechanisms underlying peri-implant bone loss and developing novel treatments for dental and biomedical implants. Dr. Kotsakis has published over 70 peer-reviewed scientific articles and textbook chapters with more than 4,000 citations of his work. He is one of the few Dental researchers to have been published in the prestigious Lancet. He is the recipient of multiple career and research awards from the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Periodontology Foundation and other organizations. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor for BMC Oral Health and as an editorial review board member for multiple prestigious Dental journals. Dr. Kotsakis practices Periodontics in the UTHealth San Antonio intramural clinics with a focus on treating implant complications and peri-implantitis. He lectures frequently both nationally and internationally on implant surgical techniques, alveolar bone regeneration and peri-implantitis therapy.

Ο Λάμπης Πετρίδης αποφοίτησε από την Οδοντιατρική Σχολή του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης το 1994. Στη συνέχεια ολοκλήρωσε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές εξειδίκευσης στην Προσθετική στο Tufts University, Boston, U.S.A. (1997) και στη συνέχεια ένα Master of Science degree (1998) στο ίδιο πανεπιστήμιο. Απέκτησε τον τίτλο του Διδάκτορα στην Οδοντιατρική Σχολή του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης το 2001. Το 2018 του απονεμήθηκε ο τίτλος Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) σε αναγνώριση των μεθόδων διδασκαλίας του.
Διετέλεσε Λέκτορας, και στη συνέχεια Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στον Τομέα Προσθετικής του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης. Το 2012 αποδέχθηκε τη θέση του Αναπληρωτή Καθηγητή στην Οδοντιατρική Σχολή του Λονδίνου UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Από το 2019 κατέχει τη θέση Καθηγητή και την Έδρα της Προσθετικής (Professor and Chair of Prosthodontics) στο UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Είναι ο Διευθυντής σπουδών στα προγράμματα Master of Science in Conservative Dentistry και Master in Clinical Dentistry Prosthodontics και είναι επίσης Honorary Consultant στην πανεπιστημιακή κλινική Royal ENT and Eastman Dental Hospital. Έχει συγγράψει, μαζί με άλλους συνεργάτες και ομάδες, ένα σημαντικό αριθμό ερευνητικών δημοσιεύσεων σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά και έχει διατελέσει μέρος ή κατευθύνει πολλές ερευνητικές εργασίες στους τομείς την Προσθετικής, Εμφυτευμάτων και Αισθητικής οδοντιατρικής.
Παράλληλα με την ακαδημαϊκή πορεία, εξασκείται πάνω από 20 χρόνια με την περίθαλψη οδοντιατρικών ασθενών και, από το 2013 εργάζεται ιδιωτικά στο Harley Street Oral Reconstruction Centre, με αντικείμενο την Αποκαταστατική οδοντιατρική.
Είναι ενταγμένος στην λίστα των Προσθετολόγων του General Dental Council-UK καθώς και του European Prosthodontic Association. Είναι ακόμη: registered Speaker and Fellow for ITI, a member of the International College of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Osseointegration, the European Prosthodontic Association, the British Society of Prosthetic Dentistry, the Cochrane collaboration Oral Health Group, the IADR, and an affiliate of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.

Νίκος Ματτθαίος
HONG KONG

Dr. Nikos Mattheos was born in Athens in 1973. He graduated from the Dental Faculty of the University of Athens. He completed his Masters degree in Health Informatics and his PhD degree in the University of Malmö, Sweden, where he also completed specialist training in Periodontology. He then received specialist training in Fixed Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry in the University of Bern, Switzerland under Professor N.P. Lang.
He is accredited Periodontist by the European Federation of Periodontology and has worked in university clinics and hospitals among others in Greece, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia and Hong Kong.

He has served as Associate Professor of Periodontology at Griffith University, Australia (2008-2012) and as Clinical Associate Professor of Implant Dentistry in the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong, where he was director of the Implant Dentistry clinic and postgraduate programmes in Prince Philip Dental Hospital (2012-2020). Other academic appointments include Associate Dean for Postgraduate education and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education. He is currently visiting Professor at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand Associate Professor in Periodontology (Docent) in the University of Malmo, Sweden and affiliated researcher at the School of Dental Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Sweden. He maintains private practice focused in oral rehabilitation and implant dentistry and he is active with teaching and research.

His research is disseminated through more than 120 publications in international peer reviewed journals and he has received numerous awards, including the International Association of Dental Research researcher’s award in 2003 and 2013 and the Andre Schroeder Award in 2014. His present research evolves around Bio-technical implant complications, bone regeneration and in particular the pathogenesis and management of Peri-implant inflammations. He is also a world leading expert in dental education, in particular with electronic media and has designed and operated many international courses for implant dentistry, including the world’s first Massive Open Online course at Coursera, which has enrolled more than 30,000 learners.

He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Prosthodontics and member of the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals within Implant Dentistry such as Clinical Oral Implants Research. He is ITI Fellow since 2008 and director of the ITI Centre of Excellence in Hong Kong since 2012.
