📌Περίληψη

This webinar will focus on abutment material selection and abutment design. It will address challenges faced by restorative dentists and dental technicians while selecting and designing abutments for screw- and cement-retained implant-supported restorations.

The success of implant-supported restorations in the esthetic zone is measured not only by the degree of osseointegration of the implants, but also by how well the restorations blend with the supporting tissues and the surrounding dentition. Adequate management of the peri-implant soft-tissue in terms of abutment design and abutment material and their integration with different restorative materials is paramount for achieving such success.

In this webinar, the role of CAD/CAM technology, as well as the use of titanium and zirconia for custom abutments, will be discussed to facilitate functional and aesthetic successful outcomes in everyday dental practice.

Learning objectives:

  1. Discuss the advantages and limitations of titanium abutments for cement-retained implant-supported restorations including guidelines for use.
  2. Discuss the advantages and limitations of zirconia abutments for cement-retained and infrastructures for screw-retained implant-supported restorations including guidelines for use.

👤Prof. Ariel J. Raigrodski

Dr. Raigrodski is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and maintains a full-time private practice limited to esthetic, restorative, and implants dentistry in Lynnwood, Wash., U.S.

He is also an affiliate professor at the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Washington.

He is an assistant editor of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and a member of the editorial review boards of many other journals.

A former full professor and director of the Graduate Prosthodontics Program at the University of Washington in Seattle, he is the past president of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.

Raigrodski is a graduate of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. He received his certificate in prosthodontics at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, where he also completed a fellowship in implants and esthetics, and an MS degree.

He is a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, a fellow of the International College of Dentists, and a member of many professional organizations.

As an author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters, Raigrodski’s research is mainly clinical and focuses on all-ceramics, implants, and CAD/CAM technology.

He is the author of the book Soft Tissue Management: The Restorative Perspective-Putting Concepts into Practice, published in 2015 by Quintessence Publishing, and lectures extensively both nationally and internationally
