Natural Tooth Morphology: From Observation to Restoration
Understanding natural morphology is the foundation for creating aesthetic and functional restorations.
We analyse the distinctive anatomical features of anterior teeth, their proportions and the different levels of morphology, with the aim of faithfully reproducing natural dental anatomy.
09:45–11:15
HANDS-ON 1
Reproducing Natural Tooth Morphology
Participants will reconstruct the missing half of three anterior teeth — a central incisor, a lateral incisor and a canine — on 3D-printed models.
The exercise focuses on proportions, transition lines and primary, secondary and tertiary morphology, with the aim of creating natural and harmonious restorations.
11:15–11:45
Coffee Break
11:45–12:30
Colour and Optical Properties: The Art of Layering
How can we reproduce the natural appearance of a tooth using composite resins?
We examine the fundamental optical properties of enamel and dentine, translucency, opacity and opalescence, and how they influence material selection and the layering technique.
12:30–14:00
HANDS-ON 2
The Youthful and the Mature Tooth: Two Different Layering Approaches
Participants will restore two central incisors, one youthful and one mature, using different layering techniques.
Using the GC Essentia and G-ænial A'CHORD systems, they will understand how shade selection, translucency management and the development of internal anatomy influence the final aesthetic result.
14:00–15:00
Lunch Break
15:00–15:30
Injection & Compression Moulding: From Planning to Restoration
A presentation of two contemporary techniques that allow the controlled transfer of the desired morphology to the final restoration.
We analyse the basic principles, clinical indications and application stages of Injection Moulding and Compression Moulding, as well as the possibilities for combining them with freehand layering.
15:30–16:00
Coffee Break
16:00–17:30
HANDS-ON 3
Compression Moulding: From Theory to Practice
Hands-on restoration of a central incisor using the Compression Moulding technique and a modified transparent matrix.
Participants will apply the protocol step by step, from the placement and shaping of the composite resin to the final finishing of the restoration.
17:30–18:00
Completion of Hands-on Exercises and Discussion
Evaluation of the restorations, questions and answers, and discussion of practical tips for applying the techniques in everyday clinical practice.
